(Written for a friend.)

Dear Sir or Madam,

My name is Zach H., and I am applying for a position in your costume design studio. When I saw your advertisement, I didn’t hem and haw - I knew I was the man for the job. So I rolled up my sleeves and got to work writing you. I have been glued to my computer ever since, constructing the perfect letter.

Although my resume may seem threadbare when it comes to experience, if you look closely you’ll see that it’s lined with relevant work. In fact, you might say that working in design is a pattern for me. I am an excellent on-the-spot problem solver and will do better than makeshift solutions. I can take problems, rip them apart at the seams, and put them back together in new and better ways. And I can be discreet. If there are problems at the office, you can be sure I’ll keep my mouth zipped.

If you think this cover letter has too many puns, don’t get hot under the collar. It’s just that I’m serging with hope to get this position. So don’t string me along.
